The LAC Technical Community consolidates collaboration and synergy opportunities in 2024
The regional Technical Community Organizations kicked off 2024 with their annual coordination meeting. Representatives of the seven organizations, including LACTLD, met on January 22-23 at Casa de Internet for Latin America and the Caribbean in Montevideo to engage in a dialogue on issues of regional impact and to conceptualize common actions.
The objective of the meeting was to share topics, projects and main priorities of each organization for 2024, with the purpose of exploring synergies and opportunities for coordination, participation and follow-up. In addition, the Internet governance processes in which they will be participating, as well as other spaces that each of the organizations will be following at regional and global level, were also informed. In this sense, and in line with the common principles for the protection of the development, security and operation of the Internet, the efforts, projects and events that the Technical Community of Latin America and the Caribbean will jointly promote and organize during the year were outlined. Among them, a new edition of the Workshop led by LACTLD for judges, prosecutors and law enforcement agents is expected to be held.
It is important to add that the participants and representatives of the LAC Technical Community Organizations were able to exchange views on the important global governance processes that will be developed throughout the year. In this context, the new representatives of the Technical Community for the LACIGF Multi-Stakeholder Committee (MSC) were also elected: Lía Solis (LACNOG), Rodrigo de la Parra (ICANN) and Rocío de la Fuente (LACTLD).
Undoubtedly, collaboration among regional community stakeholders is a strategic advantage to advance in the development of the Internet in Latin America and the Caribbean. After evaluating the performance and efforts made last year, it can be affirmed that 2024 will be a year of commitment and effective progress in the common goals for the region.
