With the aim of putting scientific knowledge at the service of society and strengthening disaster prevention policies, CEDIA – Ecuador’s National Research and Education Network – officially presented the Zenit/Copernicus Ecuador Observatory to the country’s Secretariat for Risk Management. This technological platform aims to establish itself as a cornerstone for strategic decision-making at national level, based on advanced analysis of Earth observation data.

The collaboration between RedCLARA and GÉANT, which began at the start of this century with the CAESAR feasibility study and the ALICE project, has evolved into a strategic alliance that now enables direct connectivity between Latin America and Europe via the BELLA Programme and the EllaLink submarine cable.

At the seminar ‘Towards the Ibero-American Summit’, RedCLARA’s Executive Director, Luis Eliécer Cadenas, presented BELLA as a concrete infrastructure for cooperation between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, capable of connecting knowledge, innovation and opportunities for development.
