During the event’s sessions, participants were able to discuss and exchange ideas on the operation of the Internet, the risks of fragmentation, and the expansion of connectivity and access. In addition, the eLAC-ECLAC Working Groups had the opportunity to present the progress made in their work processes and projects, which were complemented by the discussions and perspectives of the regional Technical Community.

The meeting with the eLAC-ECLAC Working Groups closes an annual cycle of activities coordinated by the organizations of the regional Technical Community, with the objective of promoting collaboration and informed dialogue with different actors of the Internet ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean. These cooperation and networking activities present the roles of the Technical Community and open channels of contact at the regional level with the objective of guaranteeing stability, availability, openness and trust in the network.

“With this latest event, we bring to a close a calendar of regional activities that began in January with the coordination meeting right here at Casa de Internet for Latin America and the Caribbean”, said Rocío de la Fuente, General Manager of the Association. “LACTLD will continue to participate and support the cooperative efforts of the LAC Technical Community, representing the technical operators and ccTLDs that daily provide DNS service to the regional ecosystem of Internet businesses and users”, she concluded.
