REUNA's CSIRT launches virtual course on Cybersecurity for Higher Education

As part of the celebrations of Cybersecurity Month in October, the Chilean Advanced Network, REUNA, and the Vice-Rectorate of Information Technologies (VTI) of the University of Chile, with the support of the University Cybersecurity Collaboration Network (UCISO), the Chilean Society for Information Security (Sochisi) and the Chilean Institute of Law and Technologies (ICDT), launched the virtual course "Cybersecurity for Higher Education: Regulatory Aspects and Security Fundamentals".

(Source: REUNA) The course is completely open and free of charge, with the possibility to opt for a paid certificate, and aims to provide a solid knowledge base for IT professionals in higher education institutions and all those interested in cybersecurity. It covers the main theoretical aspects of the subject, providing a good foundation in the regulatory environment and the basics of cybersecurity.

Prerequisites: Have a basic knowledge of information and communication cechnologies, computer systems and/or information security. Possess a computer or mobile device with an Internet browser and data connection.

Modality: This course is 100% e-learning and includes 12 hours of independent work. There will be a short test after each content unit, the average of which will count foro 40% of the final grade. At the end of the course, there will be an evaluation that  will represent the remaining 60% of the final grade. Students enrolled for the certificate must pass both the quizzes and the final exam with a score of 60% or higher.

Time commitment: Approximately 2.5 hours per week for five weeks.

  • Registration: Starting October 12, 2023.
  • Classes begin: November 13, 2023
  • End of Classes: January 15, 2024
