“Implementing International Cooperation European Union- Latin America Future Internet, ICT Components and Systems R&D” is the title of the video conference that will be held on February 9th as part of the FIRST project, funded by the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission that will link the academic network of Latin America, RedCLARA, with its European partner, GÉANT.

The event will last two hours, from 16:00 to 18:00 GMT and will include the participation of assistant from Mexico through CUDI, Bogota through RENATA, Brazil through RNP, Argentina through InnovaRed, Chile through REUNA, and Spain through RedIRIS.

FIRST is a Support Action funded by the European Commission Seventh Framework Programme in order to foster International Cooperation in the areas of Future Internet and ICT Components and systems between Europe and Latin America.

The project aims to extend the concept of European Technology Platforms (ETPs) to Latin American, by gathering strategic stakeholders from the different sectors included in the Future Internet, ICT Components and systems fields into one national ICT Technology Platform per country in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.

These Latin American Technology Platforms (LATPs) will be essential counterparts for ETPs in Latin America, facilitating an efficient networking and collaboration with the ultimate objective of promoting joint research initiatives between European and Latin American entities from the ICT field.

"At the regional level, is being formed a group of experts to create a Regional Strategy for cooperation between the European Union and Latin America in the field of Future Internet. In this sense, RedCLARA collaboration is essential because it provides the infrastructure to connect experts both American and European countries, "says Luz Ledesma Clavell, Coordinator of Communications and Institutional Relations - ALETI and member of the Federated Iberoamerican  Entities of Information Technologies.
