NEPTUNE Canada explored the Pacific Ocean on-line and alive

NEPTUNEThe participants saw the public launch of real-time data were obtained from instruments and sensors arranged in the deep ocean NEPTUNE of the Canada project. The connection held on Tuesday, December 8th between 10:00 and 11:00 AM (PST - Pacific Standard Time) www.neptunecanada.ca allowed to discover the depths of the Pacific. With the support and funding from the Government of Canada through the Canada Foundation for Innovation, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and CANARIE, NEPTUNE Canada has completed installation in the Pacific Ocean of 800 kilometres of powered fibre-optic cable, five observatory nodes at key scientific sites, and over 200 instruments and sensors, to depths of nearly 3000 metres, to help us better understand natural hazards, resources, ocean/climate change, ecosystems, tectonic activity and much more.
