Rafael Ibarra will occupy a position in the LACNIC Directors

Rafael IbarraThe Executive Director of RAICES was elected along with Alejandro Guzman Giraldo and Hartmut Richard Glaser through electronic voting that took place on November 10th to 20th and that involved the participation of institutions that are members of the Registry. CLARA congratulated the winning candidates.

The Electoral Commission of the Latin America and Caribbean Internet Address Registry (LACNIC) announced on November 27th, the election of Rafael Ibarra, Executive Director of the Salvadoran Advanced Network for Research, Science and Education (RAICES); Alejandro Guzman Giraldo, Senior Engineer, Product Development in INTERNEXA from Colombia, and Hartmut Richard Glaser, Executive Director of Internet Management Committee in Brazil, to fill three positions on its Board from January 1st 2010 until December 31th 2012.

LACNICIbarra's nomination was made by the Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks (CLARA) as LACNIC member, for his work and experience in the field of information technology and communications. "Rafael Ibarra is one of the persons who have worked hardly in Latin America towards the development of Internet and the Information Society. He has actively participated in LACNIC meetings since its formation, being also active participant in the creation of LACTLD and the NIC of El Salvador. All this without mentioning, his efforts on the improvement of academic networks and the generation of regional policies through eLAC2007 and eLAC2010 Plans, in which, he had take part. Rafael would be a major contribution to LACNIC, "said on the website of LACNIC's Executive Director of CLARA, Florencio Utreras.

The voting, conducted electronically on Novembe10th to 20th, was attended by the institutions - from 29 countries-, which integrate LACNIC, including the founding members.

"My aim is to continue generating synergies in Latin America, collaborating and contributing ideas, work and results to LACNIC nearby targets, but also to those goals of the organization raised a longer period, with a deeper significance and with decisive impact in improving the living standards of a greater number of people in Latin America and the Caribbean, " said Ibarra in his nomination.
