September 30: Open Call for a Virtual Data Management Course

This course aims to strengthen capacities in data management under the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). It seeks to put into practice the knowledge gained on data management and administration techniques using real repositories provided by the participants themselves. This training is the second in a series of three, continuing the course "The Role of Data in Open Science."

The course is intended for professionals managing data at a technical level, in research areas, or in any field related to information and communication technologies (ICT), engineering, or telecommunications, who work with public entities in the Latin American region.

The course will feature distinguished experts, including Hernán Asorey, researcher at the Scientific Computing Unit at CIEMAT and Latin American Giant Observatory (LAGO); Antonio J. Rubio Montero, senior scientist and chief administrator of computing and storage systems at CIEMAT; Ignacio Blanquer Espert, professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain; and Rafael Mayo García, head of scientific computing at CIEMAT and course director.

The course, with a duration of 40 hours, will be conducted using both synchronous and asynchronous methods. This will involve a combination of pre-recorded lectures, downloadable presentations, and live seminars. Participants will be able to utilize their own data repositories and implement FAIR concepts in their projects.

The schedule varies by region, facilitating the participation of students from different countries.
