July 9: The first meeting of the Copernicus Academy's National Committee in Guatemala

On Tuesday, July 9, the first meeting of the National Committee of the Copernicus Academy in Guatemala will take place. The National Research and Education Network of Guatemala, the National Secretariat of Science and Technology (Senacyt), the University of the Valley, the European Union Delegation in Guatemala, and RedCLARA, with support from the EU Space Support Office and EUreCA, are organizing the event.

This meeting's objectives include the official establishment of the Copernicus Academy in Guatemala, the presentation of the implementation strategy, and the confirmation of the national committee, a group of key national stakeholders responsible for designing the plan and actions. The Copernicus Academy in Guatemala aims to strengthen capabilities and knowledge management in Earth Observation, facilitate the adoption of Copernicus data in new sectors, and bridge the gap between skills and data utilization in the country.

Copernicus, the European Union's Earth Observation Programme, provides information services based on satellite and in-situ observation data, benefiting citizens and environmental management the most.

Among the pillars of the EU-CELAC Digital Alliance are BELLA II, led by RedCLARA and co-funded by the European Union, Copernicus, the Investment Accelerator (Tecnalia), and the Political Dialogues (ECLAC and GIZ).
