March 12, 16:00 GMT: Webinar "From the sky to the Earth: Copernicus, Europe's Earth Observation Program for the world"

RedCLARA and the National Research and Education Network of Costa Rica, RedCONARE, will hold this Tuesday, March 12, from 16h GMT (10h of Costa Rica) the Webinar "From the sky to the Earth: Copernicus, the European Earth Observation Program for the world". The objective of the event is to make known to the educational, scientific and research community of Costa Rica the characteristics of the European Earth Observation Program, Copernicus, and the benefits at the country level for the solution or mitigating problems caused by climate change and natural disasters.

The event is free of charge and will have the special participation of the Copernicus Supervisor and Community Manager, Stéphane Ourevitch, who will oversee presenting the initiative and the benefits has already brought and can continue to bring to the region. Copernicus is the European Union Earth Observation Program that studies our planet and its environment for the maximum benefit of all citizens. It provides information services based on satellite Earth observation data and in-situ data that isfree and openly accessible to its users.

The webinar is also part of the efforts to stablish the Copernicus Academy in Costa Rica. Its objectives are to promote capacity building and knowledge management to enable the adoption of Copernicus data; to encourage the development of interdisciplinary training programs and the promotion of new skills; to articulate efforts between academia, government, businesses and citizens to provide solutions through Copernicus and to make visible successful experiences of implementation of skills and knowledge developed and acquired through the Copernicus Academy.
