CEDIA is the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and the Academy, created on September 18, 2002 at the Government Palace in Quito. Subsequently, on January 10, 2003, the Ministry of Education and Culture issued the ministerial agreement that approved its statute, consolidating it until today in the city of Cuenca, in the province of Azuay, Ecuador.

CEDIA's objective is to promote the exploration and results of innovative projects that unite Ecuadorian institutions, linking researchers, professors and students through projects, competitions and technical, scientific and innovative development initiatives, in order to generate a circle of constant growth among academic institutions, Ecuador's public and private sector.

CEDIA works in four areas; Technology, Research, Academy / Training and Innovation and Technology Transfer, and currently has 59 member institutions, including Universities, Technological Institutes and Colleges at the national level.

Its mission is "To work in collaboration to generate and strengthen research networks at national and international level, for the benefit of society". In this way, CEDIA promotes the development of technology, research and innovation in Ecuador, in addition to enriching the "ecosystem" and promoting entrepreneurship, facilitating networking between organizations, entrepreneurs and new entrepreneurs.
