The Working Group on Blockchain Formation - formed by specialists from the national research and education networks (NREN) of Latin America and articulated by RedCLARA -, acting within the scope of the LACChain Alliance for the development of the Blockchain Ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean led by the BID-LAB, launched an introductory course on the topic, which will take place from July 25th to August 26th.

During the European Development Days’ session for “The Global Gateway in Latin America and the Caribbean”, held in the evening of June 22, 2022, in Brussels, the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships highlighted the importance of BELLA for the future of collaboration between EU, Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

Trieste, Italy, 16 June 2022 - After rounds of discussions and extensive technical evaluation sessions, LA Referencia/RedCLARA, the Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks, and ASREN, the Arab States Research and Education Network, have signed an agreement within the framework fostered by COAR, the Confederation of Open Access Repositories and the LIBSENSE Initiative, for ongoing information and infrastructure sharing between the two organisations.

The event, held in Quito, was attended by the European Union (EU) Commissioner for International Associations, Jutta Urpilainen, the Minister of Telecommunications and the Information Society of Ecuador, Vianna Maino, the EU Ambassador to Ecuador, Charles-Michel Geurts, and representatives of CEDIA, the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, and of the University San Francisco de Quito.
