The 57th edition of our digital newsletter, DeCLARA, wraps up 2024, filled with advancements and key news that have marked the final months of the year. This final issue highlights the work and achievements in innovation, connectivity, and collaboration across Latin America and the Caribbean, underscoring the impact of initiatives driving the region's development.
Held in Rio de Janeiro from December 3 to 5, the TICAL 2024 Conference reaffirmed its status as a key platform for strengthening and fostering collaboration among Latin America's National Research and Education Networks (NRENs). This gathering provided experts and leaders in technological services and cybersecurity with an opportunity to share knowledge, explore joint solutions, and advance a regional agenda in these critical areas.
Nearly 200 participants from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe attended the successful conclusion of the 2024 edition of TICAL, which took place at the Windsor Barra Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. During the event, technology experts, academic leaders, and representatives from key institutions discussed the impact of artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, open science, and cybersecurity on education, research, and healthcare.
On the second day of the TICAL2024 conference, Luis Eliécer Cadenas, Executive Director of RedCLARA, presented the achievements and objectives of the BELLA II project, highlighting its contribution to bridging the digital divide, promoting meaningful connectivity and building a robust and sustainable digital ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Today, the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has become the epicentre of technological and scientific collaboration for Latin America and the Caribbean with the launch of TICAL 2024, the flagship event of RedCLARA. This year’s edition has brought together nearly 200 participants, including academics, technology experts, and regional leaders, to strengthen alliances and explore new solutions in critical areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), e-Health, open science, sustainability, and cybersecurity.
On November 27, the Latin American University Telemedicine Network (RUTE-AL), under the coordination of RedCLARA, held the event "Digital Health in Latin America: The Vision of International Organizations," in collaboration with RECAINSA.
