The Arab States Research and Education Network, ASREN, was inagurated in December 2010 at the League of Arab States Headquarters. His Managing Director – Administration, Education and Research, shared with us his views on the role of research and education networks and the importance of global collaboration in this interview.
Francis Frederick Tusubira is the CEO of UbuntuNet Alliance, a regional association of National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) in Africa - primarily in East and Southern Africa – that is part of the Africa Connect project, which aims to interconnect the region with GÉANT. Through this interview we get to know his views of regional research and education networks and of global collaboration.
Parallel sessions, plenary sessions, panel discussions and workshops will be part of the Second Conference of Directors of Information and Communication Technologies in Higher Education Institutions, Management of ICT for Research and Collaboration, to be held on July 2nd and 3rd in Lima, Peru.
The event, organized by RedCLARA in collaboration with the academic networks of Mexico (CUDI), Costa Rica (RedCONARE), Colombia (RENATA) and the GISELA Project will take place on May 8th from 18:00 to 20:00 GMT.
Thanks to the ALICE2 project, jointly funded by the European Commission through its @LIS2 programme, the capacity of the transatlantic link has increased from the 622-Mbps connection between Europe and Latin America that was in place at the beginning of the project, to 2.5 Gbps, strengthening collaborative research between the communities of both continents.
