During the event, academics from Chile will address topics that include the security of information, personal data, the importance of the preservation of information backup and data scheme specially protected by the universities.

The European Commission has for the first time presented calls for projects under Horizon 2020, the European Union's €80 billion research and innovation programme.
Worth more than €15 billion over the first two years, the funding is intended to help boost Europe's knowledge-driven economy, and tackle issues that will make a difference in people's lives. This includes 12 areas that will be a focus for action in 2014/2015, including topics such as personalised healthcare, digital security and smart cities.

RedCLARA wishes all its members, friends and collaborators a Merry Christmas and a happy 2014 full of prosperity and success in each of their tasks and ventures.
“RedCLARA’s work has been fundamental. Today, we are witnessing a radical change in the academic networks scenario in Latin America an its international connection. There are already 14 networks connected, while a few years ago the situation was quite different, with only 4 established networks connected to international academic networks. It is evident that this change has a favourable impact on collaboration actions that can be carried out within the region. Nowadays we can already interact by making use of those networks with many more institutions; work in joint regional projects and with other international counterparts.”.
The Fourth Conference of Information and Communication Technology Directors from Higher Education Institutions, to be held between 26 and 28 of May 2014 in the Cancun Center (Cancun, Mexico), calls all ICT leaders of Latin American universities to send their works for contest until March 7th, 2014 to tical@redclara.net.
In order to enhance the work and the role of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Directors of the universities of the region, since early 2011 the Information and Communication Technology Directors Network of Latin American universities has built a collaborative space that seeks to contribute to the continuous improvement of its institutions.
The TICAL Conference is the place where the community come together, which is feed primarily with the experiences, knowledge and initiatives presented by universities, providing significant and unprecedented solutions around ICT topics for higher education institutions in all the areas of the university labor.
