LACNIC has opened the period for nominating candidates to the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award, an award which seeks to honor regional leaders who have made a continued contribution to the growth of an open, stable and secure Internet for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Iberoamerican Network of High Performance Computing (RICAP) announced on February 27 the opening of its second call for access to HPC supercomputing resources. The call was created in order to allow research groups that can hardly use supercomputing clusters to carry out its projects to get access to this type of infrastructure.

The Program Committee of the Latin American Conference on High Performance Computing (CARLA 2018) invites interested authors to submit their full and/ or short papers, written in English, for presentation at the event that, taking advantage of the great success of the nine previous editions, will be held in Bucaramanga - Colombia, from September 26 to September 28.

To be held between September 3 and 5, at the Centro Internacional de Convenciones y Exposiciones Las Américas, in the city of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, the traditional TICAL Conference and the 2nd Latin American e-Science Meeting opened its calls to present papers on the theme "Digital Transformation in Institutions of Higher Education, Science and Culture", and invite the interested parties to apply between February 26 and May 7, 2018 at 24:00 GMT (closing time of both calls). The papers must be sent in strictly compliance with the format established in the Authors' Guide of both events.

Aiming to discuss scientific data management best practices developed by research institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean, the World Data System (WDS) will hold on April 17 and 18, in Rio de Janeiro, the Latin American and Caribbean Scientific Data Management Workshop.
