Second CopernicusLAC Hackathon on Disaster Risk Reduction
The Copernicus Center for Latin America and the Caribbean (CopernicusLAC), based in Panama, will host the second CopernicusLAC Hackathon, a competition focused on developing innovative solutions for disaster risk reduction in the region. This initiative is part of the Global Gateway project, promoted by the European Union (through DG INTPA) and the European Space Agency (ESA), under the EU-LAC Digital Alliance.
The hackathon is open to students, professionals, researchers, and public officials aged 18 and over, especially those from or residing in Latin America and the Caribbean. Over the course of two weeks, participating teams will develop proposals based on geospatial technologies and open data from the Copernicus program. The event includes two evaluation phases and will culminate in a final round where the top teams will present their projects before an international jury.
Registration closes on July 18, 2025. Key dates include the official opening, weekly submissions, proposal evaluations, and the final ceremony on August 6. Full details on the challenges, eligibility criteria, and prizes are available on the official event platform: https://app.taikai.network/copernicuslac
