RENATA wins prize for creativity

Premio Colombia en LíneaThe National Research and Educational Network from Colombia (Red Nacional Académica de Tecnología Avanzada, RENATA) won an award for best Web site on research in that country. In its tenth edition, the contest Colombia Online recognized RENATA work to improve Internet for scientific, educational and cultural achievement and for exploit the convergence of networks and services.

The National Research and Educational Network from Colombia (Red Nacional Académica de Tecnología Avanzada, RENATA) won an award as best Web site on research in that country. In its tenth edition, the contest Colombia Online recognized RENATA work to improve Internet for scientific, educational and cultural achievement and for exploit the convergence of networks and services.

The Colombian advanced network website, member of RedCLARA, received the first place for Best Research Website, one of 13 competition categories. The other two nominees for that category were www.revistavirtualpro.com, www.universia.net.co.

RENATA is the network of advanced technology that connects, communicates and fosters collaboration between the academic and scientific community in Colombia with the international academic community and most developed research institutes in the world.

On this occasion, the jury looked at content, structure, navigation, graphic design, functionality and usability of Web 2.0 criteria.

The prize Colombia Online has being realized since 1999, when the Colombian Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications (CCIT), Casa Editorial El Tiempo and the Government Online program, felt that a contest was a way of highlighting the creativity, national talent and effort of Colombian companies dedicated to creating and developing websites. This year, more than 600 sites participated in the contest.
