CEDIA receives recognition for its contribution to science and innovation in Ecuador
Ecuador’s National Research and Education Network (NREN), CEDIA, has been awarded the José Peralta Medal, a prestigious distinction granted by the Prefecture of Azuay to individuals and institutions that make significant contributions to the development of the province and the country.
This honour, one of the most important in the region, aims to highlight exemplary trajectories in fields such as science, culture, and innovation.
CEDIA received the recognition for its sustained commitment to scientific research, creativity, and innovation—principles that have guided its work for over two decades through collaborative efforts with universities, research centres, and knowledge ecosystem stakeholders across Ecuador.
Since its founding, the Corporation has promoted strategic projects that connect academia with societal needs, driving solutions in key areas of knowledge. The award acknowledges not only its institutional trajectory, but also its ability to generate collective impact together with the more than 50 higher education institutions that are part of the CEDIA network.
CEDIA expressed its gratitude to the Prefecture of Azuay for the tribute and extended the recognition to all its member institutions, reaffirming its mission to transform challenges into sustainable opportunities through knowledge, science, and technology.
A member of RedCLARA, CEDIA is a non-profit organisation that leads the articulation between academia, science, and technology in Ecuador, strengthening national and international capacities through advanced infrastructure and innovative programmes.
