Condolence note: Tomás de Miguel, RedIRIS Director
It is with sadness that RedCLARA receives and communicates the news of the loss of Tomás de Miguel, 61, Director of the national advanced network of Spain, RedIRIS, last July 23, in Madrid.
PhD in Telecommunications Engineering and Professor at the Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSIT) at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), Tomas was a highly respected, influential and beloved figure in global research and education networks. During his 12 years of leadership at RedIRIS, he left an invaluable legacy, with many services that allow distance cooperation between Spanish professors and researchers and their colleagues around the world.
