January 23 and 24: 1st edition of the Americas Summit of Academic Networks will be held in Mexico

The National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) of the entire continent will meet on January 23 and 24, 2019, at the 1st Edition of the Americas Summit of Academic Network.

Organized by RedCLARA, CANARIE (Canada) and Internet2 (USA), the event will be held in the offices of the Autonomous National University of Mexico (UNAM), in Mexico City, and will be attended by authorities from different national networks of research and education in Latin America, the United States and Canada. Among the confirmed names are the Executive Director of RedCLARA, Luis Eliecer Cadenas, the President and CEO of Internet2 Howard Pffeifer, the President and CEO of CANARIE, Jim Ghadbane, as well as Nelson Simões, Director of RNP, and the President of CUDI and the Directing Council of RedCLARA, Carlos Casasús.

The 1st Americas Summit of Academic Networks aims to define a common agenda for the entire region, to address urgent challenges, foster synergies, increase cooperation, create opportunities and positive changes for national and regional networks, supporting Science, Technology and Innovation.

In addition to the talks by directors and guest speakers, the Summit will also have working sessions where topics such as "scientific and educational support opportunities", "Digital platforms for education and science" and the future of NRENs in the Americas will be discussed.
