RENATA, the academic network of advanced technology between Colombia and the world, is renewed

The National Academic Network of Advanced Technology of Colombia, RENATA, will hold this Wednesday, January 24 at 8:00 a.m. at the Ágora Bogotá Convention Center, its relaunch called "RENATA: the academic network of advanced technology between Colombia and the world. More opportunities for research, education and innovation", a space in which the advances and challenges of the national network will be presented.

The meeting will also present the advantages of collaborative work and the role of RENATA as a strategic ally of universities, companies and government for the deployment of joint technological projects that contribute to the development and strengthening of the country's institutions in coordination with those of the world. 

The relaunch will be attended by the Executive Director of RedCLARA, Luis Eliécer Cadenas, the Colombian ICT minister, David Luna, the Minister of National Education, Yaneth Giha, the director of COLCIENCIAS, Alejandro Olaya and the Head of Collaboration of GÉANT, Cathrin Stover. The directors of the regional academic networks RADAR, RIESCAR, RUTA Caribe and UNIRED, the main actors of the universities, and representatives of the main technology companies of the country will also attend.

"Colombia has the best academic network technology infrastructure in Latin America. Now, our challenge is to strengthen the collaborative work between the country's institutions and those of the world using the potential and services of this advanced network", highlights Luz Miriam Díaz Patigño, executive director of RENATA.

RENATA is the only advanced network infrastructure in Colombia that allows the connection, articulation and integration of the academic community with the more than 18,700 institutions connected to the global academic network, from 137 countries. The relaunch is an invitation of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies, the Ministry of National Education, Colciencias, and the regional academic networks, RADAR, RIESCAR, ROUTE Caribe and UNIRED.

The event will be broadcast on www.renata.edu.co and through Facebook Live, @RENATAColombia. The relaunch can also be followed through the RENATA Twitter account @Red_RENATA, hashtag # RENATA2018.
