In order to inquire about the possible interest of the Latin American upper houses of study of having a set of academic services in a cloud, RedCLARA and its partner networks invite IT Directors of universities in the region to answer this survey. As a way to acknowledge, between the participating Directors will be riffle five full grants (including airfare, accommodation and registration) to be part of TICAL 2012.

RedCLARA and the National Research and Education Networks that integrate it, are developing a study to evaluate the feasibility of implementing a set of services in an academic cloud structure (academic cloud) available to universities and research institutes in Latin America. For this purpose it is necessary to know about the interest or the lack of it of these institutions, to hire this kind of solution to its users.

The survey seeks to obtain information concerning the main management support services, teaching and research, developed by Latin American universities, the services outsourcing strategies that universities have evaluated, planned or implemented, and finally, to know whether there is interest in universities, to adopt -in a short or medium term- cloud computing services and what type.

As a way to acknowledge the participation in the survey, RedCLARA will award five Directors of Technology from the Universities that complete the questionnaire, with the needed airfare, per diem, and registration to participate in TICAL 2012, meeting to be held on July 2nd and 3rd, in the city of Lima (http://tical_2012.redclara.net). The raffle will considered only the surveys submitted by Directors of Information Technology of any Latin America institution of higher education or research.

The survey, which is answered online, will be available between April 18th and May 11th, inclusive. The raffle for the five prizes will be held the last week of May.
