May 15: RedCLARA invites the scientific community of LAC to follow Copernicus Chile’s webinar on the use of InSAR in South American cortical faults

Seminario de Copernicus Chile sobre el uso de InSAR en fallas corticales sudamericanas

On 15 May at 4:00 pm UTC, Copernicus Chile will host the seminar “Use of InSAR in South American cortical faults”, an open event inviting members of RedCLARA and the scientific community of Latin America and the Caribbean to follow the live stream via the Copernicus Chile YouTube channel. The talk will be presented by Pablo León, a PhD candidate in Science, specialising in Geology, at the University of Chile.

During the seminar, four case studies from different areas of South America will be presented to demonstrate how Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR) enables the measurement of ground surface deformation and contributes to the study of the seismic cycle. The presentation will also address the technical challenges of recovering signals even below the noise level, as well as the analysis of deformation accumulation at the boundary between the South American and Scotia plates.

The event represents an opportunity for researchers, academics and professionals interested in Earth observation, geology and natural hazard monitoring. We invite RedCLARA members and the scientific community of Latin America and the Caribbean to join us and follow this broadcast on the Copernicus Chile YouTube channel at:  https://go.cmm.uchile.cl/seminario15mayo.
