June 19, 12:30 GMT: "Data for the UN Ocean Decade - A European Focus" Webinar

The Latin American and Caribbean research and education community is invited to participate in the Webinar "Data for the UN Ocean Decade - A European Approach", the first of the "EU Ocean Data" Series, to be held throughout the second half of 2024. The event will be held this Wednesday, June 19, at 14:30 CEST (12:30 GMT).

The activity is organized by the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), Copernicus Marine (implemented by Mercator Ocean International), the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet), the Early Career Ocean Professionals Program (ECOP), and the United Nations (UN) Ocean Data Coordination Office.

At the session, attendees will learn what marine data are available, how to access them through the European Copernicus platforms, Copernicus Marine Service, EUMETSAT and EMODnet, and their potential applications. In addition, the webinar will include an interactive session where participants will be invited to share the challenges they face in obtaining or using marine Earth observation data. This approach will allow the feedback collected from users to be used to structure the rest of the webinar series.

In addition, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to access marine data through different platforms and contribute to the protection and sustainable use of oceans and marine resources. The series is suitable for audiences with different backgrounds.
