The SubOptic Latam 2022 Symposium will be held on November 10 and 11 with the support of RedCLARA and the chilean advanced network REUNA. The event will bring together academia and industry for interactive debates and inspiring presentations on the world of telecommunications and underwater digital connectivity.

SubOptic Latam 2022 will take place in a hybrid format on the Campus of the Universidad Adolfo Ibañez (UAI), in Santiago de Chile, and will include the participation of experts such as Vinton G. Cerf, Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google, Natalia López, Digital Projects by Desarrollo País, Danilo Bórquez, Director of Informatics Civil Engineering at UAI, and John Taylor, Senior Vice-Director of Development and Fundraising at Optica, among others. Registration to participate in the event virtually is free of charge.

Currently, 99% of international data traffic travels through millions of kilometers of underwater optical fiber. This data traffic will continue to grow exponentially in the coming years and during this symposium participants are expected to have an introduction to the main technical issues, project-level challenges and general aspects of the digital ecosystem.

Scholarships for student members of the NRENs

With the aim of enabling the academic and professional development of students from all over Latin America, RedCLARA offers scholarships to pay for attendance at the event by students from member institutions of the NRENs linked to the regional network. The benefit includes, in addition to registration, tickets and accommodation in Santiago, and will be delivered through the NRENs themselves, which must carry out the selection of scholarship holders.
