February 19, 1pm GMT: "EllaLink: Connecting Latin America and Europe" Webinar

The work of EllaLink, owner and operator of the submarine cable that the Latin American and European academic networks will use through their connections to RedCLARA and GEÁNT, respectively, to connect Latin America and Europe through the BELLA Project, will be the subject of the Webinar which will take place on Friday, February 19, at 1:00 p.m. GMT.

The event is organized by the Brazilian School of Networks (ESR-RNP) and supported by RedCLARA. It will be held by the ESR platform, with free registration and the participation of EllaLink CEO, Philippe Dumont, executive with more than 25 years of international experience in the telecommunications industry.

The system is being built with state-of-the-art technology that initially offers 72 Tbps of capacity over four pairs of fiber optics that connect directly to Europe and Latin America, through its points in Portugal and Brazil; The cable also connects the island of Madeira and the Cape Verde Archipelago with future extensions to Morocco, the Canary Islands, French Guiana, Mauritania and southern Brazil. When operating, thanks to BELLA, EllaLink will reduce latency between Latin America and Europe by up to 50%, positively impacting the development of science and academia in the South American continent.
