February 9-17: Inter-American Academy of Geosciences and Applications Training Webinars

The AmeriGEO Training community announced the first two training opportunities presented within the Inter-American Academy of Geosciences and Applications for the year 2021.

The two courses will be “Flood monitoring using synthetic aperture radar data” and “Engaging with indigenous peoples”. This will be held in three sessions, between February 9 and 11, at 4:00 p.m. GMT. Starting from the webinar, it is hoped that participants will be able to articulate the basic principles of recognition and respect for indigenous rights. They will have the fundamental pillars to interact with indigenous peoples and will access new networks of expert advisers, peers and resources to know where to turn for more information.

“Flood monitoring”, in turn, will be carried out in two sessions, on February 16 and 17, at 6:00 pm GMT, focusing on providing attendees with an intuitive understanding of the content of images obtained with synthetic aperture radars, especially when it comes to flood monitoring.

Full course details and guidance on how to register can be found at https://academy-amerigeoss.hub.arcgis.com/. The Training community encourages you to explore the academy site and share this information with your community.

If you have any questions about the Academy, please contact the AmeriGEO Secretariat (albert.degarmo@noaa.gov).
