2023 edition of Internet2 Community Exchange will discuss importance of regional and international collaboration

The efforts of cooperation between research and education networks (NREN) and the possibility of forming a global community between them are some of the topics of the 2023 edition of the Internet2 Community Exchange, which has been taking place since Monday May 8 until Friday the 12th, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The US NREN annual event program includes expert-led sessions, workshops and side events, reflecting the most pressing challenges and the most promising solutions in research and education, with topics proposed and submitted by the community for the community. The 2023 Community Exchange will have the participation of Maria José López, Communications and Public Relations Manager of RedCLARA in the session "Partnerships in Action, Globally", where the Amig@s Project will be presented,

With the aim of promoting collaborative work among the NRENs of the Americas, the project carried out a series of webinars on the advantages of advanced networks and joint initiatives between RedCLARA, Internet2 and the Canadian advanced network, Canarie.

The initiative was born in January 2019, when the leaders of the NRENs of the region met in Mexico for the 1st Summit of Academic Networks of the Americas, with the objective of defining a common agenda, promoting synergies and increasing collaboration to face the challenges of the region. “A working group was formed that carried out the webinars and began the formation of the AMREN (Americas Research and Education Networks) community, with the long-term objective of creating the value proposition for a truly network of research and education networks”, explains María José.

The Panel on the subject will be held this Wednesday the 10th, starting at 2:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. GMT. In addition to Maria José López, Alex Bushell (CANARIE), Jimena Mejia and David Felipe Otavo Ricaurte, from RENATA Colombia, and Clayton Reis da Silva, from RNP, will participate in the panel.
