26 and 27 September: Second edition of the ‘Deployment of the Copernicus Ecuador Academy’

RedCLARA, in collaboration with the European Union (EU), the Ecuadorian Advanced Network, CEDIA, the Copernicus Programme, the EU Space Support Office, and Universidad de San Francisco from Quito, will host the second edition of the Copernicus Academy Ecuador Deployment event on 26 and 27 September at the university’s facilities. This unique opportunity is free of charge to everyone interested in the technological and scientific development of the country.

This event is part of RedCLARA's strategy to establish the Copernicus Academy in Latin America and the Caribbean (Copernicus Academy LAC) and promote sustainable development and innovation through satellite data.

The event will mark an important milestone in integrating the country into the regional and global Earth observation network, highlighting the transformative potential of satellite data for local innovation. On the first day, a hands-on workshop on Copernicus data application and processing will provide technical training on effectively using this data in local projects. On the second day, a meeting will be held to formally launch the Copernicus Academy Ecuador, where the participants will define the strategies and objectives for setting up the network in the country.

The Copernicus Academy LAC, led by RedCLARA under the BELLA II Project, is a collaborative network that enhances capacity development and knowledge management in Earth observation. It facilitates collaboration among universities, research centers, private organizations, and governments in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe, fostering synergies to advance in this field. The Academy also focuses on training researchers, scientists, professionals, and entrepreneurs, providing them with the skills to make the most of the EU Earth observation program’s data and services, Copernicus.

The Copernicus Academy LAC is making rapid strides in the region. In addition to Ecuador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Uruguay, and Mexico are also in various stages of implementing this initiative.
