The Latin American and Caribbean University Telemedicine Network (RUTE-ALC) will begin its 2025 virtual meeting series on March 12 at 15:00 UTC, which corresponds to 10:00 AM (Central America), 12:00 PM (Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru), and 2:00 PM (Brazil). The topic of the first session will be "Cybersecurity in Health: Protecting Data and Critical Systems."

On March 11, the virtual talk "Latin American Women in HPC" will take place. This initiative is part of the actions derived from the CARLA2024 meeting, organized by the Advanced Computing Network of Latin America and the Caribbean (SCALAC). The event aims to promote the inclusion and development of women in the field of supercomputing in the region.

The University Network of Chile (REUNA), in collaboration with the Chilean Institute of Law and Technology (ICDT) and the initiative "Mis Datos Soy Yo Iberoamérica," will host a virtual talk to commemorate International Data Protection Day. This significant date marks the signing of Convention 108 by the Council of Europe in 1981, the first international treaty addressing personal data protection.

The talk, titled “The Challenges for R&I Institutions in Adapting to the New Regulatory Framework,” holds particular importance in Chile this year due to the recent approval of Law No. 21,719. This law modifies Law 19,628, regulates the protection and processing of personal data, and establishes the creation of the Personal Data Protection Agency.

The new regulatory framework grants institutions a 24-month period to comply with the new legal requirements. During the session, the main challenges for institutions involved in science, research, innovation, and education to meet these obligations will be discussed.

The event will take place on January 28 at 11:30 AM (GMT -3). Participation is free but requires prior registration, which can be completed at the following link:
