e-Health Virtual Day

Experiences in telemedicine/e-health have had a high impact in Latin America, through research projects from different disciplinary areas. From this statement, the Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks (RedCLARA), in coordination with the academic networks of Brazil (RNP), Panama (RedCyT) and Venezuela (Reacciun), developed the e-Health Virtual Day.

Exitoso Día Virtual de e-Salud On Wednesday, September 12, 2012, the assistant of 20 videoconference rooms from eight Iberoamerican countries and 45 participants connected by streaming, were part of the activity. The first presentation was given by Manuel Rubio del Solar, from Spain, who explain the experience of the Centre for research in Energy, Environment and Technology, CETA-CIEMAT of Spain in the investigation of methods that facilitates the diagnosis of breast cancer.

The second presentation was given by Felix Mosquera, from the University of Panama who referred to the experience and lessons learned in the University Network of Academic Hospitals for the training of the health professionals and the development of research works.

The, in the third place of the agenda, Dr. Hector Arrechedera from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), presented the lessons learned, challenges and opportunities of "SOS Telemedicine for Venezuela", a project that supports professionals and students of health who work in primary care centers with remote expert knowledge using technological tools.

Finally, Luiz Ary Messina, from Brazil, discussed the integration of the Telemedicine University Network (RUTE) of Brazil to Latin America and the Caribbean. At the end of this presentation began the period of questions and were presented some concerns about the sustainability of projects, the interoperability of Electronic Medical history and the importance to find people interested in joining these programs.

Luis Nunez, organizer and Manager of Academic Relations, concluded the activity inviting participants, speakers and all the assistants to the next videoconference to be held in October, focused on physics of high energy from the perspective of gender.
