Registrations are now open to compete for the "AHCIET Digital Cities 2015" awards

The call for participation in the "AHCIET Digital Cities 2015" award it is opened until July 20. The award recognizes, in six different categories, the best digital initiatives from locations of Iberoamerica and highlights the initiatives that are being implemented by the municipal governments to transform its cities into smart places, with targeted services and solutions to make easy the life of their citizens.

For the current year the award categories are: ICT and Security, Digital Alphabetization, Citizen Participation and Open Government, Urbanism and Architecture, Telecommunications Infrastructure and Environmental Management of Energy, in addition to Waste and Water. The registered cities, if chosen, shall present its initiatives in the XVI Iberoamerican Meeting of Digital Cities, to be held in Santiago, Chile, on October 6 and 7 of 2015, where the awards will be given. In 2014, the cities of Montevideo (Uruguay), Alzira (Spain), Lo Prado (Chile) and Santander (Spain) were awarded.

The organization of the AHCIET Awards expects the participation of more than three thousand people, including local authorities, mayors, governors, leaders and government officials in the region, along with businessmen, students and academics intending to discuss public and private policies that are impacting citizens, analyzing international experiences and success stories in the development and implementation of intelligent cities.

The event is organized by AHCIET (Iberomerican Association of Research Centers and Telecommunications Companies) in alliance with the Quartermaster of the Metropolitan Region (Chile), the Iberoamerican Observatory of Digital Communications (OCD) and MeetLatam.
