RENATA continues the progress of its new infrastructure model

The National Academic Network for Advanced Technology, RENATA, received last Thursday, July 7, the node of Barranquilla, the most important after the node of Bogotá, through which will be developed part of the national backbone of the new technological infrastructure network.

(Source: Renata) The node, which has an interconnection of 100 Gbps and that is part of the five that forms the Colombian national backbone will be the input and output port for the traffic of public Internet network to and from Colombia. In addition, it will support the connection of up to 48 institutions to 1 Gbps and will also receive international links.

According to Noremberg Jaimes, manager of the connectivity project, "the node will be in operation from August 1, 2016, along with the nodes of Medellín, Bucaramanga, Cali and Bogota."

The new RENATA infrastructure model will feature 100 Gbps links between the 27 national nodes that make up the national backbone, allowing the coordination and exchange of information on issues of Science, Technology, Innovation, Education, Culture and ICT appropriation between institutions forming the SNCTI.
