The event, to be held from August 4 to 13 in Costa Rica, will include seminars and demonstrations, as well as time dedicated for social interaction and scientific discussions. Graduate level, post-doctoral, and early-career scientists are encouraged to apply for access to funds provided by the National Science Foundation (SCF) to support their participation.

"Scalable, functional Nanomaterials" is the theme of the course to be held in Costa Rica from 4 to 13 August and that is part of the activities developed by the "Pan American Advanced Studies Institute (PASI), organized by the Department of Energy (DOE) and National Science Foundation (SCF).

This initiative includes the development of short courses, including lectures, demonstrations and research seminars, which aim to expand advanced knwologe on science and engineering and encouraging training and cooperation between researchers in America in fields like mathematics, physical sciences, earth sciences, computer and information science, and engineering.

According to the program, this time the course will include seminars given by invited scientists and focused on two areas: manufacturing techniques to produce advanced nanomaterials and advanced nanostructures and the use of these structures. There will also be a section of posters for students in which they will present their research work and there will be also demonstrations related to the topics presented.

The course is aimed at graduate students and scientists with postgraduate degrees at the start of their careers who may apply for access to funds provided by the National Science Foundation (SCF) to support the financial of its participation (airfares, accommodation and food). The application deadline for the course is 1 April.
