CUDI Astronomy community invites to a conference on Maya apocalypse

The event will be held on Tuesday May 31 from 12:00 to 14:00 hours (GMT-5) and for all interested in participated will be possible to assist by videoconference.

"Mayan Apocalypse in 2012? What do the prehispanic Maya people and the sky tell us is the title of the conference to be held in Mexico and will be taught by Dr. Jesús Galindo of the Institute of Aesthetic Studies at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, UAM.

The Mayas in the classical period produced a very accurate version of the Mesoamerican calendar. From its legendary beginning of the time, in 2012 it completed a major cycle of the fact that some people have associated with the prediction of major disasters on Earth. This talk will briefly show the base of the Mayan cycle and will expose some culture and astronomy reasons that contradict the catastrophic predictions.

Participation by Videoconference: must be coordinated with the institutions videoconference responsible to coordinate the reservation of the respective room in the RAPLA system.
