The aim of this activity is to train participants in the planning, designing, building and maintaining broadband wireless data networks that can cover considerable distances. The deadline for submitting application form is September 1st 2011.

Poster ICTPOn November 14 to 25 will take place in Guatemala the Workshop on Low Cost Solutions for Wireless Connectivity organized by the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP, Trieste, Italy) along with the Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala.

The aim of this activity is to train participants in the planning, designing, building and maintaining broadband wireless data networks that can cover considerable distances. Such networks can be used to provide Internet access, build Campus networks, or collect data from remote sensors with scientific, environmental, and many other applications.

The development of the Wireless Training Kit that will be used for this training was sponsored by UNESCO and is freely available to be adopted as a teaching instrument for the interested participants. The material is available in English, Spanish and French (See
http://WTKit.org)

Scientists, technologists, teachers and students from Latin America and Caribbean countries that are members of the United Nations, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO or International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) may attend the Course. As the Course will be conducted in Spanish, participants must have a good working knowledge of that language. A basic knowledge of networking with TCP/IP is also required.
