The main goal of the initiative is to call for Project Proposals that meets the requirements threefold within the areas of education, healthcare, agribusiness, micro-economies, productive chains, energy, the environment, e-government, ICT resources for the disabled, wireless connectivity and XML standards.

LACCIR RFPThe Latin American and Caribbean Collaborative ICT Research (LACCIR) Federation invites to participate in its call for research project proposals 2011. This request for proposals will support world-class research to expand the capabilities of information and communications technologies in Latin America and the Caribbean in the following areas: Healthcare; Education; Energy; Earth, Environment & Climate Change; E-Government; and Micro-Economies.

To promote international collaboration, the proposal should be submitted by a team from, at least, two Latin American/Caribbean universities in two different countries, and there must be a LACCIR SPOKE university in the team.  The following are LACCIR SPOKE universities:

• University of West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago
• Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral, Ecuador
