Seminar in Guatemala: Advanced Network Applications

Latin American projects which are using advanced network infrastructure will share their experiences in an international seminar to be held in Guatemala City on August 30th, 2011.

GuatemalaThe National Network for Research and Education of Guatemala, RAGIE, and the National Council of Science and Technology of Guatemala (CONCYT), along with Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC) and the Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks (RedCLARA) invite to the International Seminar on Applications of Advanced Networks.

The objective of this event, which will be held on Tuesday August 30th, 2011, in the Auditorium of the Universidad Panamericana in Guatemala, is to show academics and researchers, some relevant examples of advanced Internet use in Latin America, as well as demonstrate the potential for some projects in the most important areas of research and the importance of having an e-Infrastructure and superior and higher quality services.

During the seminar will be discussed the requirements of those applications for collaboration in Latin America, which could be highly demanding of bandwidth.

The program includes presentations of six international experts who will share how the use of advanced networks has contributed to the development of their work or has opened new opportunities.

Speakers are related to areas such as biodiversity, telemedicine, culture, climate change, libraries and repositories, and disaster management.
