Universidad Católica became partner of the Chilean academic network REUNA

Expired

An intimate ceremony, held on August 4th at the main campus of the Universidad Católica (UC), marked the entry of this institution to the National University Network (REUNA). The meeting was chaired by Ignacio Sánchez, UC Chancellor, Jose Palacios, REUNA Board President and Paola Arellano, REUNA Executive Director, who signed the documents that initiated the agreement.

Prensa UCThe first words of the UC Chancellor, Ignacio Sánchez, were of gratitude to the University of Chile and Concepcion because of the trust and willingness to sponsor the entry of the UC to the REUNA Corporation. "This is a result of the collaborative work done by UC. In fact, for us, the networking is a key element in the research realized in universities. Multiple disciplines, internationalization, collaboration and integration are some of the concepts that the university has internalized as part of their role and are also the reason why to be a member of REUNA was a hope and a duty, "stressed the president.

On behalf of the UC academics, with great satisfaction the astronomer Felipe Barrientos said that the agreement with REUNA is possible thanks to the initiative of NL-HPC and that this association to the advanced network will enable the access to large data factories, as will be LSST or ELT megatelescopios, located in the north of the country. He also confessed to be excited that "this network will give us access to the Hadron Collider, an initiative in which is already working one of our colleagues."

José Palacios, REUNA Board President, expressed his enthusiasm for the entrance of the UC as a full partner, because "it was a notable absentee in the process that is leading the Corporation and its partners to promote the development of science, technology and education in Chile.”
