Mexico move towards the development of the infrastructure of the Red Nacional de Impulso a la Banda Ancha (Red NIBA)

The University Corporation for the Development of Internet (CUDI), operates the National Network of Education and Research in Mexico, responsible of the engineering the Red NIBA.

Red NIBAThe national strategy to accelerate the transition to information society and knowledge is to ensure the availability of network capacity of Red NIBA through links of 1 Gigabit per second over optical fiber infrastructure of the CFE, which interconnects CFE hotels located in major cities, allowing connectivity to educative and research of the institutions members of CUDI.

At the present time 3 universities members of CUDI have been connected to the Red NIBA

• Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) (by optical fiber, capacity up to 1G, 100Mbps assigned).
• University of Colima (UCOL) (by optical fiber, capacity up to 1G, 100Mbps assigned).
• Universidad Veracruzana (UV) Puerto de Veracruz (by radio link for 100Mbps, 100Mbps assigned).

In addition to 7 regional networks:

  • Puebla
  • Colima
  • Guerrero
  • Durango
  • Sinaloa
  • Morelos
  • Jalisco
