October 27th: First Virtual class- conference of the ACHALAI Community
ExpiredDuring the activity, music researchers working in the field of Latin-American ethnomusicology, will present the history of five pre-Hispanic musical instruments: Ocarina sinú, whistling bottle, antara paracas, flauta acodada, antara lítica. All interested may participate by videoconference and live and direct through the Internet.
In order to appreciate a corpus of five wind pre-Hispanic musical instruments, considering they organological characteristics, cultural background and geographical dispersion on Thursday, October 27th will be held the first class-conference of the Collaborative Action Network for the ancient pre-Hispanic musical recovery, ACHALAI, coordinated by Francesco De Mattia, from the University of Malaga, and funded by the Ibero-American Programme for Science, Technology and Development, CYTED.
The activity will involve the participation of music researchers working in the field of Latin American ethnomusicology, who will present the history of the Ocarina sinú, whistling bottle, antara paracas, flauta acodada and antara lítica, five pre-Hispanic musical instruments, which were selected to be studied in the framework of the ACHALAI project.
This class-conference aims to promote among the Latin American academic community, the working method used by researchers, interconnected by means of advanced networks provided by RedCLARA, and also to present the advances in the study related to recovery and enhancement of intangible cultural heritage of Hispanic musical traditions, which will be held from the physical modeling of ancient musical instruments for the recovery of its sounds, using advanced information technologies, capable of enabling the restoration, providing valuable information for the study of musical cultures of Latin pre-Hispanic past and allowing the reinterpretation of the musical sounds recovered by the artistic and musical community.
With the support of the Chilean network REUNA the meeting will be transmitted by videoconference and may participate all the institutions connected to national networks members of RedCLARA. It will be also enabled an online transmission with accessed from any computer.
