The event, sponsored by the Masters Programme in Teaching of Science and Mathematics (Cruzeiro do Sul University, UNICSUL – Sao Paulo), aims to bring together –every other year- researchers and students to discuss relevant issues for Science, Technology and Society (STS) and the Teaching of Science and Mathematics.
Date: 25/04 27/04, 2012. Where: Analia Franco Campus – UNICSUL – Sao Paulo – SP.
The main focus of the 2nd Hispanic-Brazilian Seminar for the Assessment of Activities Related to Science, Technology and Society are the topics researched by the Learning-Teaching of the Nature of Science and Technology (EANCYT) project, an international cooperative research study which involved thirty groups from eleven Hispanic-American countries. The EANCYT project embraces aspects of Epistemology and Sociology of Science and Technology, the relationships between Science, Technology and Society (STS), and a complex and innovative content in scientific education.
The 3rd International Day on the Teaching of Science and Mathematics focuses on STS, taking into account the fact that most the Science and Mathematics curricula proposed over the last few years, in all countries, include as innovative content knowledge on STS and what is known as Scientific Literacy and Science and Technology’s Nature.
Objectives:
- To promote and encourage closer cooperation between the institutions and the researchers who share an interest on STS topics.
- To share the knowledge produced by postgraduate students and researchers-teachers on topics like Scientific and Technologic Literacy and Nature of Science and Technology, with the aim of supporting innovation actions and improve the teaching of Science and Mathematics.
- To contribute, by disseminating the results of the research conducted by the research groups involved, to teaching and teacher training for the organisation of curricula in different countries, and addressing UNESCO’s proposal for 2014 and 2021.
