ExpiredThe main Internet service providers (ISPs), hardware makers, and web companies around the world have joined to permanently enable Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) in their products and services from this date.
Organized by the Internet Society, and based on the success of IPv6 Day event held on June 8th, 2011, on June 6th, 2012 will be held the World IPv6 Launch as the successor of the current Internet Protocol, IPv4, a milestone for the continued growth of the Internet as a platform for innovation and economic development.
AT & T, Comcast, Free Telecom, Internode, KDDI, Time Warner Cable, XS4ALL, all Internet service providers (ISP), have committed to habilitate IPv6 automatically and transparently for a significant portion of their subscribers. Besides, Cisco and D-Link home network equipment manufacturers will enable permanently the IPv6 support in a range of routing and digital connectivity products.
On the side of content, Facebook, Google, Microsoft Bing and Yahoo! will enable support for IPv6 on their main web sites permanently since June 6th, 2012. In addition, providers of content delivery network Akamai and Limelight will enable its customers to join the list of participating Web sites, enabling IPv6 across their infrastructure.
