In December 2013, the national network of Peru, RAAP (Red Académica Peruana) and the ELCIRA Project - Europe Latin America Collaborative e-Infrastructure for Research Activities – signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the promotion, establishment and adoption of Identity Federations and additional services based on them in the country.

The main actions of the agreement include the participation of RAAP to each of the ELCIRA´s pilot initiatives, and above all, the establishment of new identity Federations in Latin America, the adoption of eduroam and eduGAIN and the inclusion of RAAP in technical activities of ELCIRA WP2 (Coordinated Actions for AAI between EU and LA), WP4 (Promoting the deployment of eduroam services) and WP5 (Extending and Strengthening the Collaboration Platform).

Peru is the sixth country after Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, Colombia and México to sign the MoU. Check out the map of the progress of ELCIRA here.
